In 2017, Samer Ahmadi, a member of the next generation, partnered with her father to create something even more ambitious: the Sakhi Women’s Weaving & Education Center. Housed in their grandfather’s former home, the center provides a safe space for women aged 18 to 70 to learn both the art of weaving and the fundamentals of literacy and education.

A dedicated bus transports women from across Kabul to the center each day. The impact goes far beyond the loom—when women earn an income, they help lift entire households. Many now support their families, giving their children—especially daughters—the chance to attend school instead of work
