This is a vintage Kilim rug c. 1900. This rug is magnificent considering the complicity of pattern, color, and sheer size (12'9x17'3). The rug is primarily divided into three sections: one center pattern and two similar sections on either side. The center pattern consist of 3 large diamond shapes made up our smaller diamonds. This is the same on the two outer sections however the diamonds are smaller. The rug has blues, reds, greens, ivory, and purples.
Kilims are pile-less textiles often produced by using flat weaving techniques. The word “kilim” comes from Turkish origins, however flat weave textiles or similar have been historically practiced all throughout central Asia.
