Farahan rugs originate from an area north of Arak, Iran. These rugs
get their name Farahan who was a famous carpet weaver from the small
village Sarouk. Farahan trademarked the use of a central medallion motif
in his rugs whilst using a Herati pattern, giving us the renowned
Farahan rug.
This rug has a central
medallion motif which is a defining characteristic of a Farahan rug. The
medallion is framed by intricate floral designs and a herati border.
The central colors used in weaving this rug are taupe, burgundy, red,
and light green.
