This
is a uniquely patterned antique Khorasan Rug. It has intricate
detailing in the main field and uses deep reds, and light greenish
blues. It then has a slightly contrasting vine patterned border with
pops of yellow. These specific dyes are known as Mamluk Egyptian colors.
Measures: 12'4 x 14'9.
This rug is made with naturally dyed hand spun wool. It is in good condition for being over about 150 years old.
Khorasan
carpets often historically used wool from cattle raisers in the north
of province of Iran. They typically are woven with Turkish and Persian
knots.
